Paint and clear coat advice

I own a Black 91 964 turbo in need of paint. I have a friend who does body work who is going to paint it for me. But I would like to get the opinion of some of the experts out there as to which brand of paint and clear coat is best. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Max, All you're going to get is opinions, and you what those are like. Don't get me wrong, there are a bunch of well versed paint guys that follow & answer questions here. I work for the biggest supplier of automotive finishes in the world and will say mine are the best. But you'll have other opinions as well. From their experiences. And I'll bet you go to your friend and suggest a brand he will want to use what he's comfortable with so it won't matter.
I will offer this one piece of advice... If the paint is in-expensive DON'T use it. It will be cheap. You can't go wrong with PPG, BASF, Glasurit, SW, and a few others you'll hear about. Good luck and post pics after

I have used PPG, Dupont, Glasurit, and Diamont paint systems. They all work well and have their particular advantages. PPG and Glasurit basecoats cover much faster than the Dupont base. Dupont is more forgiving to the novice painter and more suited to less than ideal environments (less tendancy for the basecoat to fisheye). I personally like the Glasurit more than any other but the pricetag is more steep. Its all a matter of preference. I would probably just go with the brand your painter is accustomed to spraying.
