I'm a newbie auto-body guy and am attempting to repair the poorly installed FG flares on my 914 project and would like to get some feedback on my progress so far.
Please see my progress thread at 914World. TIA,

OK !! I read your progress, looks like you are in for a lot of dust, If I was doing this job, I would take off all 4 flares and start from scratch, and then when everything is clean and ground, dry fit them, make sure that the right will be the same as the left, and then we will proceed to bond those puppies, there are several way to do it right, I am sure others will also advise.

Rudy,
Thanks. I'm heading toward that same conclusion also. Especially after finding a major putty job on the drivers side, and an entire metal panel that will need to be welded in to replace the putty. What is the preferred method for fitting the flares in relation to each other. Is it just their comparative height (from what reference point?), or am I looking for equal wheel well distances or what? Can you elaborate? Thanks,

We should be looking from equal distances from several points of reference, center of the wheel, top of glass, end of bumper etc. any point that see fit in order to make both sides the same, if you don't prep the flares before the dry fitting, make sure you have some guide lines, so that you can put the flares back in the same position after preparing them for bonding.
