"junk" on clear coat
I just recently had my car (84 911 cab) in the shop for 2 weeks for a transmission overhaul as well as a bunch of other mechanical work. No issues there. Problem I have is that once I brought the car home in the rain I rinsed it real fast in the driveway and drove it into the garage for a wipe down with the shammy. I noticed that the paint surface on the top of the car, (trunk, hood.bumpers) felt "rough". The sides are like glass to the touch, however as I drag my hand up toward the top it feels as if some type of overspray got on it. No color, just a rough feel. I called the shop and of course they know nothing. What can I use to remove this crap? Does it need to be wheeled out at a body shop with compound?

A "Clay bar" rubbing will probably remove it. Be gentle.
(minor overspray in the air at the shop, I assume?)

There are two kinds of clay bars so you need to pick the right one.
