Question question about spraying deck lids

Mightbe a daft question but how do you guys spray both sides of a deck lid to give good results?.In one pass with it hung up vertical or do one side with it bench mounted flat let it dry then turnover for the other ?
I would rather spray my lid flat for even coverage and less chance of runs

Underside first, flip it shoot top side. ALWAYS paint flat when you can.

They can be hung and shot both sides. Advantage to flat, of course, but a disadvantage in handling. The local restoration shop hangs parts. However, if shooting metallic, they shoot the lids on the car and remove sometimes for clear.

when we do our refinishing we refinish all the bolt on panels off the car . we lay the boots and bonnets flat just as they would be on the car . the doors and wings we hang from the booth sealing . the reason we do it this way is . if its a metallic color we want the metallic flakes to lay the way they do on the roof , front and rear cowel panels . i could get into the cut and shape of metallic flakes and how they affect the light reflecting back off the substraight (panel) but not at this time . when it comes to clearing panels it should make little deference to the way the panels sit. but knowing from what you stated your more comfortable with the panel flat . ok so 1st if your using a hvlp spray gun make sure that you have hvlp every thing right from the air tank . if its not then that may be your 1st problem . 2nd when your laying down you clear coats put your 1st coat on medium wet then on your 2nd coat full wet and just about the way you want it to look you should get a little flow but not to much . that you ajust with hardener and reducer . the slower the hardener and reducer the more flow you will have . after your 1st coat of clear you will know when its time for the next coat by tuching the masking tape (not the paper the solvents soak into the paper) when you can leave a finger print and NO clear comes off on your finger its time for the next coat of clear . make sure you finger test it in a few spots just to make certain that you do have proper flash of the 1st coat of clear .
