Mig welder opinion and input needed
I want to purchase a welder for my shop. I will be doing small jobs most of the time and I am a novice. I think I have found two choices. What would you guys recommend please? Miller 140 auto set for $675. or Miller 180/240 volt auto set cart incl for $825.
Thanks for you advice |
240v... much more effective to weld with.
It's always best to get the better unit.
welding can be hard enough for us newbies. get the best rig you can afford and go with 240V
I have a MillerMatic 180 and it has done everything Ive asked it to do. I still blow thru sheetmetal but thats user error ;) |
I have a Miller 211 with autoset that I am very happy with- works both 120/240.
Thanks guy's I think the Miller 211 will be the new choice.
+1 on the Miller 211 auto-set
I bought the Miller 211 w/ auto-set last year and it's a great machine. No regrets
Go with 240
The smaller unit will work-but you will use significantly more juice to get the same result. Consider it a tool bought for life and it will be easy to justify the cost.
I have two main welders I use, a Linde 190V and a Millermatic 185. I can pretty much get equal results from either, but the Linde just throws fewer sparks. Matt |
