Professional bodywork
I'm in the middle of a '69 911E restoration. This car has to be back to it's real original condition. There can be no compromises. But the problem is that it isn't easy to get the parts needed in Hungary (my country), so you need to have a professional to make the bodywork for example. I found a man, who is in the job for about 40 years now. He doesn't have any hi-tec machines, only few different style hammers! But he can do magic with them. I will post some examples as he repairs my car. I have to tell you that evey part of my car had serious rust problem. Many of you would say, it doesn't worth the time and money invested but i think different!
![]() So here is the first set of pictures of a repair. The right rear part of the car had rust too, so he had to cut out a big part of it. We didn't have a replacement part. He took a piece of metal and a set of hammers and did the MAGIC! He made the absolute for and size correct piece. On the left is the cutted out piece and on the right is the handmade replication ![]() ![]() ![]() Piece welded into place. You can't even see or feel where it is welded. (the white spots are from rust inhibitor). A professional is priceless! ))![]() ![]() If you have some photos like these please post them. Last edited by hun911; 11-16-2011 at 08:10 AM.. |

Ok, here is another one. Unfortunately i don'thave a before picture. There weren't any rust on it but this part had a previous repair done not right so he had to cut the whole piece out and redone it from a sheet metal. I think it's awesome too. 100% handmade.

Nagyon szep munka!! Beautful work, it's amazing what a lifetime of experience can accomplish, I have attempted to make a simple, basic bend in sheet metal, that sure is a good way to appreciate the level of skill that it takes to accomplish a piece like this. Can't see the welds that you made to attatch the piece, either. That, too is beautiful work, cheers!!

thank you guys. Koszonom! :-) I kép posting the progress. Here is another one.
We had to make the longitudinal repair. Here i ordered the necessary set from stoddard, because the original metal was rusted and in so bad shape, that we couldn't make a copy. ![]() To make a proper repair we had to cut the rear seats out. What does it mean? Had to creat a new set bottom. Here is the piece almost done. ![]() ![]()

more work
The inner side of the side member had a previous repair wich was poorly done, so we have to rebuild the whole sidemember from the crosspanel under the dash to the back seats.

The seat support is almost done, but we still have to form the side member.
![]() We hade to make those seat suppert pieces too. These are under the side member. Don't forget 100% handwork! We made a pair, because it will be needed on the other side too.![]() They look like this together...
