Targa Pillar Detailing?

What to use?

Since it's painted metal, a petroleum product? (wax, etc.)

Or a Rubber/Vinyl/Tire product (I see several have mentioned Adam's SVRT)

I tried a little of each last night but didn't get a very nice result, as it hazed over again pretty quickly....

Suggestions?

I believe the targa hoop is actually anodized, yes? I'm pretty sure they anodize the black on window trim and the targa hoop.

I had a set of anodized finish porsche wheels and the factory manual actually states to use vasoline to shine and protect the finish. My wheels had chemical stains and the vasoline immediately shined up the wheels and covered up the stains.

Much like Armor-all, it does not last long, but it does the job. Looks better as you keep using it, too.

I don't think the black bars are anodized they have a pebbley finish. It is some sort of coating but I can not say for sure it is paint. That being said I have heard the vasaline treatment does work well on the black bars.

the targa bars should be a mat finish .
when you put a petroleum jelly on some thing like the targa bar you totally change the way it should look . it's fine if your looking for it to be a total gloss but it how ever is wrong for how it should be .
porsche offered 3 finishes for the targa bars .
bare finish
mat black smooth
mat black wrinkle finish
if your having trouble with the finish dieing back to a flat finish it only means one thing it's time to paint it .
glasurit offers a mat black to match the finish dead nuts to the gloss it should be .
we have also found the sem flat black with there hardener is a good gloss match for the targa bars but it is not a dead nuts match . how ever it's less than 1/2 the cost of the glasurit to spray and 99% of the people will not be able to tell .

the P.J. works great for things like rubber bumpers but in painted finishes not so well .
just like your cars finish if the paint is dead then it's time to refinish so it maybe time just to do so .
