1980 targa door gaps...
I am looking at a low miles well kept targa that by report has had no body work and no accident history, two owner car. I have inspected it from every angle and have found that the rear door gaps do not line up and there is a gap of over 9 mm. the top of the door edge is higher than the rear body. The door also doesn't appear to shut all the way, And its affects both driver and passenger doors. The rest of the gaps appear within normal spec of 4mm. The only thing else i can find "wrong" is that the rear footwell floors are bulges presumable from errantly placed jacks, can a jack in the wrong place "rack" the body enough to cause the malalignment?
Thanks for any input, I dont have pics bc my iphone was dead when i saw the car. |

the door gaps on 911's are bigger it the top then they are at the bottom and should be that way .
if a 911 has even door to QTR gaps then there is a problem with the car . as for the door sitting just a little higher at the back that too is not all that unusual at all . not that all 911's are like that with the door just being a little higher but remember the 911 was a hand built car . as for the floors and the jacking and lift points . most shops that do not know porsche's will damage the floor when they put the cars on there lifts . the real lift points are the round nugs on the under side of the car how ever so many people will look at them not knowing that they are the lift points and lift the car in the wrong areas pushing up the floor pans . |
