Non Porsche paint question

I have a 2007 Nissan Xterra with the stock black/grey plastic bumpers. Is this plastic paintable? I never did care for this look, it seems unfished and cheap. If it is paintable what is the process so it looks factory and sticks. I am not interested in bed liner, rhino liner or anything like that.

yes you sure can paint it !

it's pretty much the same as painting any raw plastic part/bumper .

1st step remove the bumper .
2nd wash it real good with something like simple green or alike to remove every bit of dressing and road crap off the bumper .
3rd take the grille out of the bumper cover and all other little bits and pieces so its easier to paint and prep the cover .
4th wipe the cover down with a quality wax and grease remover . one made for plastic is best .
5th prep sanding .
most times a gray pad and a sand scuff product should do for the sanding prep . if it's textured you will have to sand it a little more to make sure your sanding in all the valleys between the textured finish .
6th again wipe it down and from this point you will always want to be wearing rubber gloves not to get oils from your hands on the prepped bumper cover .
7th tack off the bumper cover and then spray one coat of a plastic adhesion promoter
let it flash as the TDS states .
8th spray one coat of a sealer i tend to use a tinted sealer but any two part sealer works good . let it flash as TDS states .
9th at this point you can do a single stage or base clear . needless to say if base clear you do not need a flex additive in the base or under coats . it's not a bad idea to add a little in the top coat of clear or in the single stage . you don't need to go the the max with it just a little will do .

Thanks 962, exactly what I wanted to know. I wasn't sure if painted plastic bumpers were a different type kind of plastic than the unpainted type.

I like the look of the Frontier/Pathfinder as opposed to the Xterra.

Thanks again you're the best.
