Steering Wheel Interchangeability 356A/B/C vs. 912

Is the steering shaft diameter/spline count the same for all 356 and 65-69 912's?

Thanks!

Nope. The A is definately different, I think the B adn C are interchangeable. May want to post to the 356talk list hosted by www.356registry.org for a definate answer.

While we are on the subject, I need some technical advice for removing a steering wheel from a 356 T-6.
The car was at a paint shop for about 4 months and when it came back, there is about 1/2" top-to-bottom and side-to-side play in the steering wheel, which I want to correct. The play is NOT rotational play, due to a sloppy streeing coupler.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks Much.
