tank removal?
Any help would be appreciated. I have to remove my dads fuel tank on his 64 SC and I need to know what I am getting into. I have not personally looked at it and he is far enough away that I can't just stop over and look at it. Any time estimates and tricks I need to know???

I'm not sure about a 64 but my 63 has a fuel tank lever connected to the shut off valve under the tank, if so disconnect it. The rubber grommet around the filler neck as I remember was a bit of a hassle too. The tank comes out easeir if the backing plates around the filler neck are removed. Other than the mentioned things I can't think of anything else that is not obvious and straight forward.

Hi,
Clark pretty much lined it up for you. Also be sure to disconnect the battery because a spark from the sending unit could be messy. I found that its much harder to put it back in than it is to take out. You could get it out in less than an hour. |
