1960 356 roadster $

What would a near perfect 1960 356 Roadster be worth? May be selling this car and don't know what it is worth. A relative died and I may be asked to sell it. Car is black with tan interior and top. Engine done by Bruce Baker super 90 scat crank and big bore kit. Car has rear sway bar and everything looks like new. Machine work on engine done by competition enginerring. thanks for respenses.

If it truly is perfect, a whole freakin lot. Even if it isn't perfect, but is all there and all original, its worth bucks. Heck, even as a project car it is fairly valuable, if it is all there and not completely incorrect. I'd hit the registry's website (www.356registry.org) and look for the PPI people list, or maybe one of the big name restorers/sellers of 356s to take a look at it.

Car isn't completely original . Engine numbers don't match. But it was people's choice at Wegman's one year and also runner up another year.

Then I'd say it is fairly valuable. Is the engine at least the correct type and within the correct serial number range? You can do a lookup at www.356a.com . Also, even if you don't sell the car, please enter its vin and other info into the db at 356a.com

Garage
There was a similar post here recently, the car was valued at $35K if memory serves me. Yours could be worth more.
As my friend the used car salesman says, " There's an ass for every seat."

this car has alot of sentimental value and I am going to be looking for someone who will love the car. My uncle of 52 passed away last year along with his last child. This car got him thru the death of his two children and then he sucummed to his own illness. The body of this car was a completely done there is no rust any wear and the paint is almost faultless. All chrome is new as is all electrical and mechanical parts. Someone looking for a car as near to perfect as possible this is the car. Also the carbs are webers brand new. engine rebuilt by Bruce Baker with scat crank. the bullit proof way. Interior is all new also. I will post pictures when I have possesion of car. I just want to see were value lies and people with interest in cars will set price. I think it will be in ther niebhor hood of 40,000

Sounds about right...

Speaking from experience, how much sentimental value does the car hold for you? I inherited my C coupe from my father - he bought it new. I came home from the hosptial in it when I was born. If I were to sell it, I could never replace it, even with another 356 - it just happens to be That One.

If you are gonna love the car, maybe you should hold on to it, drive it, enjoy it, and remember your uncle...

I wish I were in a position to make an offer as I truly love the roadsters.

I currently have 2 other 'babies' (928 S4 and a 968) - my wife and I are looking forward to obtaining one of these beauties.

I'll bet it fetches close to 50K. You did say roadster, right?

Most consider the D to be a roadster since it was an extension ot the Speedster last built the year before. It was not a cabriolet, which was also available the same year. The D is a stand alone car made for one year only and replaced the following year with the T-5 roadster.

The roadsters are quite valuable, all of them, but especially the D.
