Alternators for 356's available
 

Rod Emory has completed a kit in which anyone with a 12 volt car can replace the generator with an alternator. I've been running the prototype setup for 2 years in my 62 Coupe and it's been trouble free, and have ordered another one. The alternator has an internal voltage regulator, so wiring is easy.
