oil in 356 cylinder
This might be the problem:
one of the plugs showes oil (I think it is - it's a little wet and thick black stuff on the plug). I know I should have checked it first. Well, the funny thing is, that the cylinder fires, but I guess accellerating is a problem, because more oil gets sucked in (mmh - does this point to the valves rather than the cylinder?) Interesting enough the cylinder still has compression (91psi - or is this nothing). Is there any thread on taking the heads off and - replacing head gaskets - changing valve guides and valve stem seals - piston rings I hate this situation, but how hard can it possibly be? Here is my shopping list: - Valve cover gaskets - Valve guides - Valve stem seals - Engine cylinder head gasket set - Piston ring set Would be nice if it weren't the rings! Never done this, but a friend of mine is a mechanic and might help. Thx everyone.

Given the shopping list please realize there are valve cover but not head gaskets. A rich running car can give black gummy plugs. Is your oil consumption up? Are you spewing blue smoke? Jim
