356 Fuel Level Sending Unit

I have a '63 356B T-6 and recently purchased a new fuel sending unit to install in the tank.
The old unit had completely deteriorated., my question when installing the new unit there doesn't seem to be any index marks on the unit or tank, does anyone know if the float points toward the front, rear or either side of the car.

In addition the old unit had two wires connecting it,, the new unit only has one electrical connector , is there a specific wire that goes to that connector and i assume the other would go to ground with one of the mounting screws.

Thanks,
Pete

The sending unit only lines up in one direction and the other wire is ground on one of the fastener.

Louie85 , i was able to install it with the screw pattern pointing toward the front of the car and either side. Is there some sort of mark on the tank i should look for ?

Pete

Pete, I don't recall any mark in the tank, I know one of the hole is slightly offset to get it installed only in one direction. Hope this helps.
