dunno if that is that is the same engine in question. I think that bug has a type 1 (gug/ghia) engine or a type 4 (914/van) engine. I could be wrong though! It does have a 911 fan and custom shroud. Those coolers can be bought by Veedub companies like Bernie Bergmann (US), and some others like Sharp out of Australia and another company in Germany. I remember there was talk of this engine (the 911 with the middle cut down to be a 4 banger) on 356talk a while ago and seem to remember a magazine writing up a custom 356 that had this powerplant. I am not sure, but i think they were out of oregon.

hope that helps!

ok---it drove me nuts, but I found out the name of the company. The ones who made that modified engine is Parts Obsolete. They are located in Oregon.

what if any is the benefit to this type of conversion? I guess you would loose power and torque.

Not from what I've read. The only power you lose is the $15,000.00 price tag that goes with it.It would be cheeper and better to put a 3.0 six in it.I might. They say the sound is by its self.At least read a little about it to see what it like.Have you ever seen the artical about it.
