Glockner 003, Sixties history question
If you have not seen this beautiful car, it is a treat, the workmanship, materials, etc.
See lots of color pictures here; 1952 Porsche Glockler Roadster - Conceptcarz I have finally accepted this as a real Porsche, unlike Glockners 1 & 2 that had VW floorpans. I am checking only on its '60s history, not any later. I found this paragraph in a story on the net: "before showing up in 1958 in Denver in the hands of Alex Thompson. Its appeal and quality apparently endeared it to Denver-area enthusiasts, and it passed through several hands including Charlie Lyons' and possibly even Bob Carnes', the creator of the Bocar specials, before ending up wîth automotive sculptor Larry Braun of Loveland, Colo., in the late '60s." ---------------------------- In modern times, it sold for a huge amount and is being shown today. My question is, when the sculptor Braun owned it back in the Sixties , he started on a restoration but then stored it in an open shed and it didn't get fully restored until the next owner bought it in 2000. My question is: was it ever printed what Braun bought it for or sold it for? I am guessing Braun bought it for a song because unless you had old magazines, you would conclude that it was a special, Glockners being pretty unknown... |
