356 60?

I realize this isn't a forum for 356's but I'm at an end here and hoping someone here has a little knowledge about this car and can enlighten the rest of us? I have a 1962 Porsche 356 that has the number 60 on the back just as the Super 90 would. It looks original but I have no idea. Maybe it's a series 60 and someone got creative with their badging? The numbers are fused together so it's not a screw up. I've owned the car for a couple months now and can't find anything about it and have stumped the guys I know. Maybe one of the well educated 911reg members can help? Thanks in advance! I appreciate it. Jay

Info about the car Vin 120309, 1962 356B, Engine 608475, DOP 5/10/62

There were 3 1600 cc engines available that year.
You likely have the normal = 60 hp.

The 1600 Super had 75 hp, the Super 90 obviously had 90 hp.

Get Brett Johnsons book on the 356 and search your engine number to see if it's a normal block.

60 = the "normal" or lowest hp engine. These engines had a non-counterbalanced crankshaft, lower compression, a milder cam, and Zenith carbs with smaller main jets.

Not many survived to today without being upgraded with higher compression pistons (or larger diameter + higher compression pistons) at least a "Super" (75 hp) cam, and rejetted carbs.

The 60 hp normal appeared years earlier, but the "60" emblem was used for only a short time. Not sure when it started, but I think with the '62 T6B, and of course was not carried on to the C since the 60 hp was dropped and 75hp became the base model.
