Finally joined the Porsche family!!!!

Well after accepting that the rising prices on 911's would keep me from ownership, life shifted a bit and had other plans. This week I picked my BAT auction win and drove home my 1982 911sc.

She is pretty clean but far from perfect which is perfect for me, not guilt in using it the way Porsche intended.

It's a stock 3.0 with SSI, M&K 2 into 1, Carrera tensioners, MSD ignition, WEVO motor and trans mounts, a rebuilt 915(2002) Turbo Valve covers, 16x7 16x8 Porsche Fuchs, Toyo 888, a new fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel accumulator, alternator, rebuilt fan, curved distributor, OMB 46mm carbs replaced the CSI, Porsche-script sport seats.

Overall it's a great lil car and a canvas for me to learn and make my own over the years.
I look forward to learning from the people here and my local PCA club members.

Nice car.

I usually don’t make style comments but this car is begging to have the rockers off...

Great buy and welcome to the family! I also just acquired by '79 SC. Needs quite a bit more work than yours but like you I am very happy with this! Looks like a great car! Enjoy the ride - everyone here at Pelican is so helpful - you've joined a great community!!

Manbridge, I KNOW RIGHT, I thought the same thing... rockers off would really sell the current albeit overdone outlaw look, but I like it Also thinking about a ducktail, but liking the slick back for now.

I want to try to stay away from to much cosmetics for now, and just enjoy and learn the car while doing any upgrades that pop up.

The 915 is an interesting lil bit of kit... learning to be gentle and patient.

Nice!

I think it looks great with the stock deck lid and custom grill.

Enjoy !

Hahaha RSBob, that was crazy. I went over my budget a bit, but the wife was cool with it and the market makes getting one of these a once in a lifetime event lol.

Yea, I think i'm going to pull the rockers next weekend and see what I have going on under there.

Putting my 1990 Mustang Notchback up for sale to start a nice healthy engine rebuild fund. Maybe a nice 3.2ss in time.

Nice! I have a silver 82 also. SSI and M&K 2-1 are being put on now. If you are going to keep the "Porsche" script on the side the rockers need to go. I'd get rid of the bumperetts in the back too. Looks better and saves 30ish pounds.

Nice car - wish mine was as finished as yours.
Mine is still a few years from joining the rest of the ‘taxed and out for a fun run’ group.

I have SSI and the M&K 2 into 1, kinda want the 2 into 2 GT3 center exit though... i want to loose the impact bumpers, but the current bumpers look okay, (will remove the bumperettes). I kinda wanted to design my own bumpers and see if I can blend the simplicity of the early 911s with the body of our cars.

I like the look of the GT3 muffler as well. I got my 2-1 M&K as a package deal with SSIs off the classifieds here. According to M&K the performance is going to be comparable between the two with my 3.0 engine. Not having to replace the rear valance and match paint is another plus.

I know a lot of people find the 2-2 mufflers to be too loud or have issues with drone. You could probably find someone willing to trade a GT3 for your 2-1. I bet it will sound wicked with your carbs.

I've given a lot of thought to the bumpers. My current plan is to keep the stock impact bumpers but tuck the front about 1 1/2" and the rear 3/4". I have a "smile" from a 964 and euro reflector delete prices to help clean up the look. Removing the bumperetts and plugging the holes with some caps from the hardware store makes for a big improvement in looks with little time and money invested.

Congrats on the new ride! Let us know if you have any questions or if we can assist with any part needs in the future. I'm sure you've already been getting very familiar with the platform, but a helpful link to our DIYs never hurts

Guess no one told you that the Porsche family is highly dis-functional. Welcome to the insanity and hold on to your check book because they tend to hemorrhage.

Hey it's @artschooldebt! I was rooting for you on BaT and am glad you made it over to Pelican.

The best advise I got on this board when I got my SC was to shut up and drive! No really, they said just to put miles on the car and see what I liked and didn't like and ask lots of questions before performing a ton of mods and spending money on the wrong things. I didn't listen of course but it was great advise! Also- those Porsche script sports seats are kickass!
