What kind of gas powered heater does Singer use?

Hi guys,

Like probably most people on here I am a big fan of the work Singer do, and how much they manage to clean up the otherwise rather bland or even ugly 964 engine bay. Their custom intake system is a big part of that and unfortunately $$$, but losing the stock heater assembly should a more affordable modification, that allows you to run non-heat headers, and possibly even remove some weight off the rear of the car.

On a few of their builds you can see the optional gas powered heater on the left side of the engine bay, but I have not been able to find any close-ups or even a description anywhere on the internet. I would assume it's either an Eberspächer or Webasto unit since they more or less have a monopoly on the market.

Does anybody know more?

Cheers,
Lukas

From a previous Singer spec:
Exhaust
The Sport muffler is a unique lightweight stainless steel design optimized both for sound and the power characteristics of the uprated engines. It has twin center exit pipes and is ceramic coated in matte silver gray with contrasting polished tips and support straps. Heat for the car is provided via heat exchangers in the exhaust manifolds that utilize heat generated by the engine in the time honoured 911 fashion.

See: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/566192-gas-heater-installation.html

Exhaust Option
As an option, any of the three engines can be specified with a newly developed lightweight stainless steel header system that has been optimized for the power characteristics of the uprated engines. This system is free from the restrictions of the standard heat exchanger system with benefits in throttle response, torque characteristics and light weight. If this option is chosen, heating for the car is supplied by a separate ESPAR heating module that interfaces with the cars existing HVAC system.

Kind of hard to really see it, but it sort of looks like a freshly powder coated Eberspacher BN2. See attached sample pic.

Didn't know Singer was dabbling in those (or apparently dabbling). I just happen to have one sitting in a box.

There is someone on this forum under the username ‘Edelweiss’ that runs a Porsche outfit on Germany that fit these types of heaters, as they remove the heat exchangers for headers.

Search on the username for more.
