Plywood Platform for Engine Drop
Somewhere on this (or engine rebuilding) forum I have seen a post about a 3/4-inch plywood platform for used with a M/C lift for engine drops, but I can’t find it.
So, person (s) who have engineered this, what are the recommended dimensions!

Maybe this is the one you are thinking of. Somewhere between post 45 and 48.

Probably not helpful, but I bought a cheap Harbor Freight furniture dolly, boxed it 3/4 of the way around with 2x4s, platform on top of that, then cut the span between the rear casters out. This allows me to slide my jack in under it, but once I set the thing on the ground it is on it's own wheels.

interesting idea. once dropped I use my cherry picker to get it up on the engine stand.

Is this ... making it more complicated than it is? 2 jacks, 2 jack stands, one dolly is all I ever need.

i now you a transmission jack. it lets you tilt the engine front to back when installing/removing, the jack also rolls sideways,
since i got the 930 and the engine is much bulkier and heavier i made 2 brackets that let me bolt the engine to the jack. i bolt it to the tranny axle flanges and to the top of the jack. then i made a small board to fit around the engine where it sits on the jack. dont want to raise the engine up any more than i have to so i can get it out from under the car. a tip for that is to remove the front wheels and drop the front of the car all the way down as low as it will go. i can roll my engine out WITH the IC on it, but i do have to remove the bumper. solo engine removal is a piece of cake , i also completely remove the axles.

I've done it with a furniture dolly. But you can even just drop it on a flattened cardboard box. Then you can slide it around your garage. You save 3-4 inches of height, which may save you pulling off your bumper. You'll probably need a friend to do it this way.

I also use a transmission jack. because I am pursuing a full restoration I already had the rear bumper off before I dropped the engine. will be a while yet before the motor is built to reinstall.
