Need some help with a tune-up -- 3.2

Today, on my 87 Carrera, I replaced spark plugs, plugs wires, distributor cap and rotor. The car has been running great but it's been awhile since this stuff was done.

So I start it up and it starts immediately but runs rough at about 900 rpm. I give it a little gas and it bogs and sputters quite a lot, sounding like it's going to stall.

I checked that all the connections are set well, checked the placement of wires in the dizzy, and it all looks good. I start it again and get the same thing.

I used Bosch WR-7-DC+ plugs, Clewett wires, Beru rotor and cap, all from our host.

Any ideas what's going on?

TIA, Ken

I'd check the placement of the dizzy cap. Is it well seated? Inspect the contacts with the rotor.

I struggled with the install of the Beru cap. Didn't feel like it seated well. Replaced it with Bosch after a cap and rotor meltdown.

Re-check your spark plug connections too. I suspect that you're not running on all 6 cylinders.

The anchors for my distributor cap were very frustrating to seat right. Check there.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the dizzy cap -- I will check that tomorrow.

Check your firing order. It's the easiest thing to overlook and the most common screw up.

A bit of silicone grease on the plug boots.
It may be the connection on the plugs, clewett wires need a really good shove to get them to click into the plug.

Check to make sure you didn't bump your Cylinder head temp wire loose. I did some work on my car once and bumped the wire just enough to make the car run terribly. I would have swore it wasn't running on 6 but it was running ridiculously rich on 6. I'd tap the throttle and it would stumble and even backfire.

I'm assuming you've gone over your wires to make sure everything is where it should be.
