1973 911 Driver's side mirror refinish
Anybody ever disassemble and refinish a side view mirror. I'm a little worried about breaking the glass. Checked the forum and didn't find anything. Help!
Thank you all. |

Probably not what you wan to hear but I busted mine while trying to take it apart. I powder coated all the individual pieces and put it back together. Now I'm stuck and need to get a new mirror and reinsert but anxious about busting it again. Hopefully someone can post some advise.

x2 for broken glass.
I broke mine as well but at $25 cost to have one cut and installed at a glass place I think that is the preferred option VS prying up the stamped metal or messing up the plastic perimeter seal. I disassembled my mirror completely to polish it. ![]() ![]() |

I removed the glass from a 73 mirror for resilvering. I used a procedure in an old Up-Fixin dear Porsche. Basically I used a pair of flat flexible metal tools called spatulas to get under the glass and pop it out. Rob
