how to disable the A/C compressor in my '86

How does one go about disabling the A/C compressor in a '86 Carrera. I want the fan to run but not the A/C.

Unplug the wire at the compressor.

There should be a power wire attached to the compressor. Disconnect it, but be sure to tape it up to insulate it.

The hot wire is in a plastic connector, so it's insulated already.

Yeah, I know that, but it can't hurt to tape it up and tie-wrap it out of the way to prevent problems. Sort of a belt-and-suspenders approach...
