COCO Mats save the day!

Background… Mrs. Missed Approach prefers a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. When I make an NZ SB run, I always use one those reusable wine totes that hold six bottles (each in their own thin fabric sections.) I wrap the tote strap around the backrest adjustment handle on the lower left side of the passenger sport seat. The bottles do lay on their sides, but it works well to keep the tote from flying all over during my (generally) spirited drive back to Casa de Missed Approach.

Imagine my surprise upon pulling into the garage, grabbing the tote and hearing the crunch of glass and the sense of liquid dripping out of the bottom. Now, I normally buy six (6) bottles, which completely fills the tote, and I believe stops excessive movement within the tote. This time, I only purchased 3 bottles.

Obviously, at some time during the drive home, there was a clear failure of a bottle.

For this, I blame myself just as much as the bottle failure point (see image).

Thankfully, COCO Mats have a thick rubber base which captured ALL the NZ Sauvignon Blanc.

All it took was a good draining, followed by a hose off in the sink. Not a drop made it through to the carpet.

Thank God for COCO Mats.

switch to Nautilus and buy a case or half case delivered - it ages fine; use Wine-searcher

now, would it have overflowed if you had 5 bottles???

Happy ending to what coulda been a real MESS. 750 ml is A LOT of liquid.

Although, I didn't think that COCO mats could get any heavier!

Coco mats are on my must-have list now.

I’m a craft brewer. One evening after work I put a couple cans on the seat next to me, and didn’t get 100 meters from the parking lot before having to come to an abrupt stop. Cans are thin-walled and these two quickly met my fire extinguisher mount, and busted open, spraying beer everywhere in the 911. Needless to say I’m a bit smarter about can transport now.

Confessions of a middle aged dumbass...

The slope is not slippery; in fact it is entirely frictionless.

In a way I feel it's my fault. I apologize.

But I'm pleased the mats saved the day.

@Bill Douglas- Bill, you are far too kind, and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is truly a wonderful thing. I still chalk the issue up to not buying enough bottles to completely fill the tote!

IMHO worth every penny as they sure save the carpets from lots of wear, water and debris, especially on the driver's side. Probably the passenger side as well if you often have people seated there.
Totaled my driver's side after 16 years of my size 13 heel abrading it and just replaced it. Now the issue is to get some dust/dirt and try to match the passenger side with some light massaging of the dirt into the mat. If I screw up, I will just wash it and leave it as is.
