Removing a 69 Ignition switch bezel

Hello all,

I have a 1969 ignition switch bezel that I am trying to remove. I have look carefully for a small allen hole and can't see one. Do all models have this hole? All my searches say to twist the plastic bezel to the left but it will not bulge. My coupe does not have a steering lock.

My key enters the ignition switch at 11 o'clock, correct? Or must it be at 12 o'clock?

I am trying to replace the bezel as is missing what appears to be a center cover piece.

Thanks for any help on this!

They get stuck to the backing material.

Thank you John...so it will loose to the left?

Yes. With no steering lock, try twisting the switch from under the dash to get the bezel moving.

...Last question, does the key enters straight (at 12 o'clock)? mine enters at 11 o'clock position.

Thanks,

Jose

I think 12- that's what all 911s of my acquaintance are - yours must be twisted a bit. From what John says, the switch is not keyed into the dash, so you have to hold it when tightening the bezel.

Mine was north/south with key upside down. After shop (to remain nameless) did electrical work it now goes in right side up. Figure it rotates in the dash to what e er position works with the wiring

It unscrews; lefty loosie.

Try a strap wrench to avoid marring the material (hold the ignition switch stationary). In addition, research the availability of a replacement bezel, just in case you have to rely on destructive methods.
