SWB Strut Mount (Camber Plate) Help

I've scoured the web for information on the differences between camber plates for various year 911/912s, but I am not finding much that has helped me. I am preparing to reinstall the front suspension in my '68 and have a set of monoballs for the strut mounts, but the early SWB mounts are obviously different with their welded two-piece design than the 1970-1989 mounts (I think the '69 units may have been a one year design, but am unsure) and do not accept the monoballs. The solution is to buy a set of later mounts (which I have on hand) and simply install them in the car, but comparing the SWB mounts to LWB units, the center of the mount where the strut piston will install into is positioned differently. While it looks like the range of camber adjustment will be unaffected, the newer mount will clearly allow for less caster adjustment (I've read a maximum of somewhere around 4.5 degrees) because the camber plate contacts the underside of the strut tower and is unable to take advantage of the additional adjustment range allowed by the mounting holes in the chassis. Has anyone with an SWB car gone down this road before? All of these suspension bits are typically advertised for '65-'89 cars, so I'd imagine there must be a solution. I've read that some individuals have cut the inner edge of the camber plates to gain additional negative camber, so I'd imagine the same can be done with the rear of the plate to get the caster back into spec...

Any insight is appreciated.

Can the center be cut from the later plate and welded into the SWB plate?

Or section the 70 plate by moving the edged returns inboard to the perimeter outline of the SWB plate?

Just asking?

At this point I am planning to section the trailing edge of the LWB mounts to allow for all of the adjustment area in the strut tower to be used. At this point I have not found any other options. Monoball manufacturers simply say to install the newer plates into the SWB cars, and from what I have gathered, owners who have gone down this path have bolted them in and ran them. I'm sure there are plenty of cars that have switched to the new plates, but find it funny that nobody has questioned whether or not they are 100% correct as the adjustment limitations are obvious. I've reached out to both Rennline and Elephant regarding the matter, but have still not received a response from either.
