Stubborn rocker shaft bolts won’t budge! Hit them with a bit of penetrating oil to sit overnight, I’ll give em a crack in the morning.

Huh...that sounds a lot like my engine. Aside from an obvious loss of power can this lead to any engine damage?
I have to replace my camshafts anyway sometime soon so just more to add to the list.

David..if you have the same noise do not drive your 911 ...you could do big damage to it..
Ivan locate the noise and repair it....

Today I was able to pull the rocker and low and behold! A broken spring! I was able to pop the old one out and put in the new one from our host in 15 minutes! The keepers even cooperated thoroughly! Engine is running smoothly, quiet and there is a noticeable return of power!
Thanks so much for the keen ear Ivan and to everyone who posted advice! Side note: when I ordered the spring, I also ordered the Kirk Engines Valve Tool and it blew my mind! Best tool I've ever used and was able to set and check clearance on the 1,2,3 intakes in under 5 minutes. I highly recommend it. ![]()

R&R of valve spring in the car in 15mins!?
Apply to race team! LOL Nice work and always love to see that folks didn't go to some shop that tries to sell a top-end rebuild...knowing exactly what's wrong. (Ask me how I know?)
