Valve Adjust question
 

I just fired up car after valve adjust and major tune up. Runs great, but seem to have louder clickty clack from right side, which I presume is 'normal' but would love it to be quiet same as left side. I double checked my work before buttoning up.

Would it be advisable to open up just the one side and recheck the clearances, or should I open everything up again and start over?

Maybe just recheck the upper right side. You might get lucky and find the tick there, instead of having to drain oil and start over. You shouldn't be able to slip the gauge in and out easily. A few twists in and out with some resistance.

That happened to me once. After narrowing down the location to a specific bank of cylinders, I jacked up just that side, removed the valve covers and checked all the valves. One of them had quite a large gap. I re-adjusted that one and buttoned it all back up and my extra clicking was gone.

I got lucky as it was on the right side to make it easier to access everything so I was done in a half hour. I didn't even need to drain the oil with the car jacked on one side.

Use an engine stethoscope or really long screwdriver to try and find the location of the clicking first?

I got lucky - Cylinder 6 intake was the culprit - no clackity clack! - now I can move onto the idle hunting.

I think it was because on that one I was doing it kind of blind - but I think I now have an understanding of how to 'feel' the guage into the gap. Bring the blade in from below then pull up till I feel the blade 'click' into the gap. One small step for man.....
