Recommend a stealth antenna

I have tried two different stealth antennas and they are junk. Does anyone have a recommendation for one that works?

Maybe a 'mercury filled' one?

I have a manual antenna in the fender that I never got the "key" for - so have never put it up.

Radio works fine; it comes on every 9 months or so when I reboot the ipod that I usually listen to in traffic...

I recall someone used an oem antenna from some foreign car from the junk yard it ran up and stuck on the inside of the front fender. I always wanted to look around but I forget every time i go. I tried an aftermarket one it was no good. Now in my 914 im using a regular extendable antenna tucked up under the dash laying across the car. It works ok but not great

what, specifically, have you tried so far? I've been toying with the idea of installing a simple dipole fm antenna under my front trunk carpet and seeing how it would work -- something like this https://www.staples.com/Axis-FM-Dipole-Antenna/product_1948811?cid=PS:GooglePLAs:1948811&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=1948811&KPID=1948811&gclid=Cj0KCQjwtLT1BRD9ARIsAMH3BtV_ABoycPBdGaJA8-QUz5yIy26C_z63cpQbubGjelMTJmRvNAjMyGQaAmfFEALw_wcB -- you'd need to convert its 300ohm signal to a 70 ohm signal usually expected by a car radio, but that's easy . . .

Retrosound makes a couple different hidden amplified antennas. I haven't used one but they get reasonable reviews.

I think I may try just laying a regular antenna under the hood and see how it works

This was my first thought as well, although a fairly significant and pricey change for an FM antenna.

Another thought would be to get one of the flexible wire antennas (like those that come packaged with audio equipment) and lay it under the back deck padding where it's not visible. You'd have to find a way to connect to car audio antenna wire (solder or adapter?) and run to the dash, but it shouldn't be able to see any evidence of it.

Many years ago I found an antenna at Radio shack that stuck to the inside of my window. I ran it along the edge of the window from the passenger side to the rear view. It's worked for years and I don't even notice it.

I bought a regular antenna with an amp booster from Pepboys and just installed it and it works fine except when I get the exposed metal base near any of the body work on the car, then it completely goes to static. If I can insulate the base then I can probably mount it under the hood with zip ties and it should be fine. I tried electrical tape and that did not work. Any odeas on some form of insulation?

Porsche930dude: Old Becker radios can be updated to allow a AUX input from a phone or iPod. Prior to 1968 you would have to send it into Becker Sound, but 1968-1984 Beckers have an auxiliary input in the back that you can buy an adaptor for... its really a cool update.

I got a powered hidden antenna on Amazon, and it works great. I stuck it to the windshield on the passenger side, near the top and ran the black wire down with the window gasket. Can't see it and I get all the local stations on my Becker.
