Center Dash Vent is Half Fast

Question about the center dash vent. It is divided into 2 sections with their own diverters. Mine seems to only flow from the driver’s side...very little air from the passenger side.

Before I start digging, is this another quaint “feature” or is something blocked or disconnected?

On my car, an 83 SC, there is a little slider that opens the left half and another for the right half of the vent.

No sliders...but now that I look at it more closely with a flashlight, it seems that it's a common plenum shaped so that the RH side is in the eddy of the flow...so I guess it's a feature! LOL

it's easy to miss the little sliders on the far right and left....

but looking thru the pelican parts catalog it seems the porsche genuine part is available with or without the sliders

If you look this up at Suncoast, there is one for factory AC, and one without. Not sure of the differences, but probably the sliders.

You are correct, its not the vents fault. Its the plenum leading into the vent. There is a vain in the plenum that separates the direction of the air flow. Remove the plenum (from the trunk) and cut out the vain and you'll get a more even flow. I did this and it makes a big difference.

The factory one at least on my 85 Carrera with factory AC had two diverters. So the driver and the passenger can both share the AC blowing from that dash vent. Of course if there is no passenger both can be pointed at the driver.
