Working on Cars with Dad Photos

Father's Day is just around the corner. We all grew up watching Dad or Grandpa work on his car and always wanted to give him a hand from the time we could lift a screwdriver.

Post your photos and stories of working with Dad on something you both love....cars!

Looking for the dad that converts his leaky, inefficient gas runner into a eVehicle. Faster, cheaper, and waaay less complex than the vehicles I see here. Happy Father’s Day, now gooo electric!! $4k for pistons and that is only parts, full conversion for a little more!!!

My Dad passed away when I was a teen. We had just started to fix up a 74 Triumph Spitfire, but unfortunately there are no pics. Trying to insure that happens with my boys, and we have lots of pics wrenching together.

My boys helping pull a motor from our 53 F100 Resto-mod. Dad is behind the camera

And here they are helping to install the windshield on our Factory Five

Have a great Fathers Day!

Benny - What a great shot.

Oh, my! What a beautiful picture, Daniel!

I don't have a photo, but my mother painted this picture of me working on my Dad's Pinto(!) many years ago. Both are long gone, but I only miss Dad.

Me (far right, obvs) with my dad (far left) and a Cuban mechanic that he knew with our (now my) Fiat at our house in Atlanta in 1990 or 91. We got this car as a father-son project in spring of 1990 (so this picture is probably summer to fall 1990), when I was in 9th grade, from a friend of his who had bought it new. The idea was that I would drive it in high school but my mom nixed that, so he drove the Fiat as his daily and I (and then my sister) drove his 320iS. The Fiat is an '81 Turbo Spider. Eventually he gave the car to me and I still have it. By now it's a rolling/drivable restoration project, but I have a very strong emotional attachment to it. My dad died in 2005, aged 63. I miss him very much.

My mom and dad were big British car nuts in the 60’s and 70’s but my dad died in 77 in a scuba diving accident in Hawaii I was 9 so no memories with him but the next several years my mom taught me how to do everything on cars.
My son now doesn’t really have any interest in cars but my stepson does. We spent yesterday and today tearing down a 3.0 SC engine. It’s nice to pass along the things I’ve learned over the years and the things my mother taught me.
I wish I had pics of my mom to share but unfortunately they’re all in my head.
Tony
P.s. A lot of nice pics in here, several of them brought tears to my eyes and several others brought a smile to my face
Thanks for sharing. Y’all are very lucky.
