Mounting audio amp under passenger seat questions
For those of you who've mounted an amplifier under the passenger seat, has anyone come up with a method of securing it that didn't involve putting any holes in the floor, etc? Since my car is a Targa and I almost always have the top in the trunk, I wanted to put the amp under the seat. I was thinking possibly mount amp to some sort of board that I'd secure to the floor with some kind of industrial-strength velcro, but open to other suggestions.

I've got a targa with an amp mounted to the back side of the passenger floorboard. It's easy to access when needed, but takes up no room in the footwell. Wiring runs to the head unit are short. Another possible option for you.

I've already got plans for the floorboard! I've got a low-profile 8" subwoofer that I'll be mounting there. The plan is to Dynamat the entire area under the floorboard and around the outer edges of it, and mount the subwoofer from the top to minimize the depth. I have a Rennline perforated aluminum floorboard that I'll attach over the wood floorboard using spacers so it clears the sub mounting ring. The Rennline will protect it and basically act as the grill, and the carpet will cover the whole thing. I haven't put it all together yet, but as I've measured I'll only lose around an inch of the floor space and I should be able to retain the same mounting points for the board though I might have to use a longer bolt for the bottom of the board. I'll post more pics after I get the speaker mounted to the board and the Rennline cover attached.

I just had a slim powered subwoofer installed under the passenger seat by Musicar NW in Portland. It's a cheap unit from Sound Ordnance and they were initially hesitant to install it but it fits. It's not the most impressive thing on the planet but it takes a good amount of load off the door speakers and gets loud enough you can't talk over it. Mine is a heavily appointed interior but it's still the loudest car I've ever owned. Haven't been on any significant drives yet, but in my experience there's so much else going on in an aircooled, rear engined car that I don't really notice $$$ stereo setups. A $ setup is about all I'm ever gonna notice or be able to appreciate.

Make aluminium brackets that hug the floor and fasten onto seat rails .
Then work from there to have cross[braces or a carbon plate etc. And mount the amp to that with 964 oil-cooler rubber bushings . Your amp should have fans , mount it so airflow is parralel to sides of car |
My Alpine amp has been under the passenger seat for 17 yrs and it is not mounted. The carpet and the Coco Matt do a good job of holding it in place. Its just the right sice so it is restrained by the carpet and mats. If yours is small and it could move I would start with serious Velcro
I also have an Alpine subwoffer stuffed under the driver seat and it dosent move |

I’d agree that brackets attached to the seat mounts would be the best way to securely mount the amp. Providing cooling air is never a bad idea, but probably depends on the power of the amp and it’s own heat sink design. Perhaps a small 12 volt fan that powers up when the amp is on?

I mounted all of my equipment on one board. Which is secured to the floor.

I put my subwoofer under the passenger seat. Velcro.

My objective for the sub was to use the electronic crossovers in the 5-channel amp so the stock-size front and rear speakers can use the clean power without having to deal with any of the low end. I'm pretty sure I'll also change the front speakers to components with 6.5" woofer now that I've decided it needed a sub. I'll probably use stock grills from a late-model 3.2 so it all retains a factory look.
