Running a 911 out of oil?

Just reading through some ebay stuff and saw an engine with a spun bearing. The add said that the engine had run out of oil. How do you run out of almost 15 quarts of oil and not know about it before hand? Perhaps its because he was trying to feed it rice like he does to his others cars.

a couple of years back, i bought an 87 cab that had run out of oil and spun 2 rod bearings. bonus for me. carreras do have a tendency to use oil in varying amounts due to worn guides, worn valve stems, and crispy, broken stem seals. say it uses a quart in 300 miles, which some do about the time they come in for that top end job. that's 10 quarts in an oil change interval of 3000 miles. if you're a doink, and never check your oil, the engine looses it's bearings.

As to 'how' you do it ... perhaps an email to Bill Gates would give some insight??? He did it twice!!! First to a '76 911, and then later to a Mercedes 300TD! So much for his much-touted 'multi-processing' brain!

How about a RUBBER splice between the copper oil lines and the fender oil cooler.
The end of the rubber cut a hole thru the rubber splice. You want to see oil go away in a hurry.
I went about 3 blocks and saw the oil tank gauge was dropping.
Luckily for me I never lost oil pressure.
When I parked it. It looked like a EPA Super Fund site.

I was behind a guy at the track and his rear tire chafed through his oil line. I had to Simple Green my whole car afterwards!
