I am very VERY pleased with the Maxilite 15x7's I recently rec'd from Matt (aka Fixer) for my '77... the quality was fantastic and the weight really surprised me... verified 13.8 lbs which is about a pound heavier than the forged Fuchs... couldn't be happier with Matt and the customer service and the price is excellent given the quality.

Just my 2 cents worth

both are light and strong

for a 3. 0 or 3.2 SC/Carrera i'd want to keep wheels to 7 or 8 x17 front and 8 to 9.5 x17 rear w/ tires no bigger than 215/45 & 245/40

There is a nice set of Braids in the for sale section

Thanks for the input Bill. What size tires would you suggest for 7x16 and 8x16 on the stock 87 Targa. I'm not a fan of the Maxilite 17s with the polished petals so I'll be going for the 16s. Thanks in advance for your expertise.

for 7 & 8 x16, 205/55 & 225/50 or 205/50 & 225/45 the latter will be shorter and provide more grip and acceleration

Hi Jon,

I'm running a square setup, so 205/55/15... interestingly, when I weighed the old Fuchs with the 205/60/15's the new setup was actually a pound lighter which was a shock.

Well, I ended taking the "none of the above" option and purchased these instead. I'll likely go with the 205/50 225/45 tires that suggested if I can find All Season . I'm stoked to get this guy on the road again. Thanks for the help.

Well crap. I just realized these rims are for a 944. Can I expect any fitment issues or just plain looking stupid issues?

Bill will tell you about the offsets.
They belong on a 944 turbo, but I could be mistaken about this.
I think the 8” will fit in the front but you will want 9” for the rear to go along with them.
I am not sure if the 7”s have the correct offset for a 911.
8 in the front 9 in the rear is as wide as you can go under stock Carrera fenders afaik.
I have 7 and 9 which is a great combo but Some guys want that extra inch in the front. (No pun intended)
951 8”s wheels are quite desirable if you find the right crowd.

http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php

Look here, it seems the offset for the 7”s is the same. For 911 and 951.
So they might fit on the front axle of a 911.
But the offset of the 8”s is quite different.

The set looks very clean, so reselling them shouldn’t be too hard if you choose to.

I realize these rims are for a 944 after looking up the parts numbers....and ..unfortunately after purchasing them. Is there any hope of running these on the 911? I can't seem to find a definitive answer on pelican. These are the parts numbers...
951.362.113 / 951.362.117
Thanks

You might be able to run the 8’s with spacers on the rear to make up for the extra offset.

You might also be able to sell them for more than what 911 8’s go for, given their scarcity…

Bill, I found your reply to basically my same question on Rennlist. You stated that the 8s in the rear could be run if I used a minimum of a 12.7 mm spacer. What would be the con to doing so? Would it look obviously wrong or have some performance disadvantage? I'm thinking I might just have to cancel the order and go with the correct offset Maxilites. The Fuchs haven't been shipped yet.
Thanks
