1/8 scale Porsche RSR 2.1 Turbo 1974
Hi to everybody, my name is Francesco, i',m 42 old and italian.
i'm a Porsche fan and love to modelling. I'm sorry if I'll made some Language mistake. I ask you sorry if is not the right forum section to open this thread but i have some difficult to search references pics of Porsche 911 RSR Turbo 1974 that raced in 74 endurance Championship. I have the great luck to find a "unicorn" kit in 1/8 scale of this Porsche made by EidaiGrip. The model is quite basilar and very poor of details, so my idea is to made a model with right detail and adding all the possible missing parts. First check is to compare this RSR with the 1/8 DeAgostini ModelSpace Porsche RS 1972 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601025004.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601025004.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601025004.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601025004.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601025004.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601025004.JPG .http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601025004.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601025004.JPG |
This kit comes partially assembled by previous owner….so a dediced to dismantle everything to restart.
I start from the 2.1 turbo….the shape of engine kit is minimal and wrong. I work on the cooling duct to give a little bit realistic shape….now the trouble will be to shape the 6 duct to the 6 inlet pipe. I use as references the few pics on the web and some other pics of duct. My (gently) request is: Is here anybody that have some pics of this 2.1 engine to see any other details? I don't understand the the shape of engine block whicj is fitted the fan shaft connected sto the group of pulley - belt and alternator. Thanks a lot in advance. Here my little progression. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601026035.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601026035.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601026035.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601026035.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601026035.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601026035.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601026340.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1601026340.JPG |

This is awesome. I have been searching for a large scale 911 and have no luck finding one. I just did a google search and looks like the last one on EBAY sold for over $1500. Too rich for my blood

Large scale are expensive. This looks like a great undertaking....

Great work! I love seeing stuff like this. I used to build model kits and in theory, but not practice, still do. Largest 911s I've built or seen were Tamiya's 934 and 935 and Otaki's Carrera RS, both in 1/12. Didn't know there were any 1/8 911s.

Here is a link to a Pelican thread that you might find useful. Lots of good information and pictures. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/529768-first-turbo-racer-gone.html. I'm looking forward to seeing this car finished. Where do you live in Italy? My grandfather was from Ascoli Piceno. Dave |

That's super cool, thanks for posting it!

Thank you very much for your appreciation.
I just finished a double work on 2 1/8 Lancia Delta Integrale Gr.A Rally Martini for 2 clients. Now i can definitevely work on my Porche. I'm still searching pics and info for my RSR, but to don't stop with modelling, I' started a new project on 1/8 RS 2.7 1972. If I open a new Thread is a problem. I would use this one for RSR and a new one for RS, also to divide the two model and don't make confusion. |

Here you go. These are from the first RSR 2.1 turbo . The R5 chassis. I hope these are helpful..

A few more, courtesy of Remi Dargegen. A photographer friend in France. I believe these were taken in 2017/2018. You can see that high temperature resistant red tubing has replaced some of the fiberglass pieces that are connected to the turbo. I think the previous pictures are little closer to the model kit you are building.
