I put the lights back in after finally sealing up the fenders. Now everything has been fitted on the car. From here it's just assembly and no special fitment for the backdating. WHEW!!

I did unfortunately crack a new headlight lens when installing it. I guess I pushed too hard on it. I'll have to get a new one for that.

Next I need to install the rear bumper again after finishing the recent fitment there and paintwork to the mounting brackets.

I would LOVE to finish it all out but I'm waiting on vendors who are backlogged...

But by hook or by crook we will have parts in hand soon and I'll wrap up this project. I will have a surprise for the front seats....

I mounted the rear bumpers. It was pretty tricky to adjust, but it's close. I still have to tweak the seals a bit and do final placement, but I'm not sure if this will come off again for the engine installation or not, so I don't want to spend too much time on it right now.

Pardon me, though this is no longer an "outlaw".
Result so far is way too classy.
it looks beautyful

I figured out how to get the rear bumper perfectly aligned. I just need a thin shim under the drivers side mounting bolt (rear). So I'll order a few shims to test out.

I the meantime, I test fitted the door cards. I'll have to take them off when my plating is done by Tru6. They are running 6 months behind but have told me that that the parts should be done in April. I can't wait to see the new zinc plated parts and bright work! It will be great to have glass back in the car.

I also was able to backdate the window washer system. It's a complete longhood swap. I even weld up and re-drilled the nozzle holes so that we have the old school chrome nozzles on there. I finally got it all installed and it looks great.

Next up, the Classic Retrofit AC system. I started to fit it in there. Already the drain fittings literally snapped off in my hands when I tried fitting the evaporator/blower box. That's going to need an overhaul. Whatever adhesive they used is worthless.

Beautiful build. Where did you source the parts for the window washer kit?

For the window washer parts I used a diagram to track down original part numbers from 1973 and bought the parts on Pelican. I did have to modify the tub with a new latch panel, and a small bracket that holds the tank. That bracket was made by Restoration Design in Canada.

I also had to get a battery that was shorter in length. A Group 48 battery worked perfectly to provide clearance for the tank. I think the tank was an aftermarket replica of the original 1973 tank.

The carpet set was made by Classic 9 Leather Workshop. They source all sorts of carpet that can be used for a set. I’m very happy with how it turned out!

Did they mix the colors (green, most notably, as I think thats pretty unique) to your specs?? Or is this an actual mix they found?

Classic 9 has a large variety of leathers and carpet that they can source. We went through the books and found these samples that worked well together.

WOW...love this. I have a Guards Red '86 targa and have this itch to back date as well. Seeing this is inspirational, love your exterior color and the badging. Can't wait to see the finished results!!

Finally back in town but still no parts. I did make a great trade though. My PTS purple 992 C4S is gone and I now have a new 4RS and used 2RS for summer fun. Drove both today and really love them each for different reasons. I’m a casual track user so will look forward to our local PCA events this summer to see how these cars perform. If I can get the classic done too I’ll make sure to set it up well and rip some laps at BIR with it too.

This car is so sweet. Please get those front seats in and post a pic! I literally check this thread for seat pics everyday...like the kid in a Christmas Story waiting for his Daisy Red Rider BB gun. I am totally enthralled with the whole car, especially the attention to detail on the backdate and the interior. I have wanted to do a project like this for decades, but sadly, my current car is the wrong starting point: wrong color, and just too nice and original...it sucks...funny to say that, but I mean it. And unfortunately, it is impossible to find a project car in this market...but maybe that will change? Anyway, thanks for the inspiration...I now definitely want a green interior...which (for me) probably means I need a white or silver car. M491 anyone? Or narrow body! Please tell your friends! And please post seat pics, as I know I am going to love whatever you do!
