Air filters for High butterfly injection
 
We just finished another set of stacks for high butterfly inject that incorporate air filters.
This set was built to the customers color specification. I'm liking the look.

We can also use the more conventional filter if that look suits the customers taste.

Nice....Henry, why can't someone make a conventional paper filter for these applications? It is one of the things holding me back from a conversion.
The foam filters allow fine particulate matter thru and I've experienced this in Az...low humidity and sandy soil you get very fine particles in the air and if you drive an unpaved road it is all sucked up into the engine bay.
I've tried the oiled K&N and literally had gunk you could scrape with your finger on the intakes (oiled out of the box not improperly oiled)...used a paper element and no problems.

The closest I’ve seen is a round paper filter that works with the K/N set-up

My suggestion: Keep on the pavement....Porsche are not agricultural vehicles. SmileWavy

I wish I could Henry but some of us in the country live on dirt roads...1/3 of a mile. Regardless of that the particulate matter is everywhere in low humidity Az...friends who do not live on dirt roads have noted the same in oil evaluations when using oiled filters....a 'free flow' filter does just that....

Same fine dust problem in Colorado. We use sand on the roads in winter and it takes a long time to clear off the roads. Cars driving over it after snow melts just kicks it into the air. Cars are always dusty even if just in the garage overnight after washing. Engines need good filtration.

Henry..your filters look great and I always admire your work.
However, I am serious about the contamination issues with those types of filters in some areas of the country and that is where I live.
I had a K&N, right out of the pre oiled package, gunk up a carb so bad (in one month) that the idle jet was clogged and it stalled out on me everytime my foot left the gas pedal. Fine grit all over the 4 barrel throats.
That was a '28 chevy hotrod w/ a 350 in it....I don't want to experiment with my Porsche.
It is a combo of low humidity (the stuff stays in the air once disturbed) and the clay/sand soil. Worse if you have to drive a bit on dirt but realistically it is everywhere.
The paper filters do the job here and the others do not.

What do the dirt bike , off-road Racers , Paris-Dakar etc guys use ?

I’ve got a few pairs of old socks if you want them ?

You mean the guys that rebuild motors after a race or two....they don't care.
The 911 design kicks up a great deal of dust right where you don't want it and the fan sucks it all into the engine bay. Just is what it is.

I'm not knocking Henry's filters just stating a fact where I live...elsewhere ...humid not so dusty/sandy no problem I suspect and that goes for every type.
I simply wish/hope someone takes the time to make an old fashioned paper element style filter for the throttle body set ups.
