Help wtih early '70's Frankfurt install

I'm debugging my Blaupunkt Frankfurt stereo (photo is not from my car) - works fine except I cannot get it to switch over to the AM band. I'm assuming that the switch in yellow is the band selector?
It's a three position switch and I'm guessing it is AM, FM Mono, FM Stereo
I can get it to switch back and forth between FM Mono and FM Stereo, but in the AM position it is still receiving on the FM band.

Thoughts?

For extra credit, anyone have that dash panel piece, I need that to complete the install - with or without the black basket weave material.

I have always just hit one of the "AM" presets to switch from FM. But if you find out what that control does that you circled in yellow, I'd sure like to know!

On my mono Frankfurt, that is the Local/Distant switch. Only 2 positions.

AM/FM is by pushing the appropriate station button.

Thanks guys - I'll try pushing the preset buttons to see if that works when I have a minute.

This plate isn't the right one, it needs to match the other long-hood dash trim like in this pic.

Wjdunham, the Blaupunkt manual that came with my 69T calls that little rocker dial behind the right knob the “FM sensitivity switch: (rear knob) right stop insensitive, left stop sensitive”. Also calls out selecting the AM or FM push buttons, switches to those bands.

Thanks - I think the third position on my radio must have something to do with the fact that it is a bit later Stereo version.
Anyway - looks as though it is behaving normally, I still need to get out and check if it switches to AM when I push one of the AM presets.

Maybe OT, but a couple of questions if you don't mind about my U.S. market OEM 1972 Frankfurt:

1) Is it stereo or mono. It only had a single dash speaker (Loudspeaker) from OEM.
2) How likely am I to find a DIN connector on the back. It would seam some years have them, some don't, and I've never pulled mine to find out.

1.) Mono. Stereo was very rare, and the second speaker was a pod on the rear deck.

2.) In '72, I'd say more likely than not the DIN port will be there. Almost 100% sure. Mine has one.

My understanding was that the Stereo Frankfurt was available from 74-76, although that was just from an eBay advert I saw for the unit that I have. My unit has the DIN connectors on the back for aux inputs - there is a nifty bluetooth receiver that can be used with that port.

I confirmed that pushing the preset AM button gets me AM reception, so that is working. My problem now is that one of the output power amplifiers must be blown, only getting a very weak signal on the right side output :-( Left side is working fine.

Anyone know a reputable repair shop I might contact? I've had back luck with a few that I used for my '80's Reno...

Did you check the Balance for L-R? I've seen at least one early stereo Frankfurt with a small hole on the right side of the chassis for Balance adjustments. Have to do it before the radio is installed, and can't change it on the fly!

Edit - thanks for the tip!
Three are a bunch of trimmers accessible from the top cover, I turned them all back and forth a bit and shot some electronics cleaner in there and it is all working now. Must have been some weak contact somewhere.

Looks like I now have a fully functional Frankfurt Stereo which I guess is a pretty rare duck. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Now all I need is the car back from the paint shop...
