IAC valve

There are no new IAC valves for the 3.2s in captivity it appears. A company called Lowes Automobil makes one I am told. There are some crossover possibilities with Volvo, BMW and some other marcs. What are you guys doing when the need for one of these arises. Bob

Looking at our host's site they say it's available, but it also says ships in 4-7 days, so you may want to speak with someone directly to confirm. It's also listed for over $600, so that may prompt looking for an alternative. eBay has some off brand for $26. I'm sure there must be other options out there as well. google is your friend 93060616100

Is yours bad? I've had good luck cleaning mine before. Here are some other sources: https://www.porschepartsbyjeff.com/?dss=true&search=93060616100

I sourced one a few years ago from a Porsche dealer for ~$300, if memory serves. You definitely want to shop around. This same unit from Bosch was also used in Volvo, etc. as you mention; same exact Bosch part number: 0-280-140-501.

Agreed i'd give it a good cleaning first. These 3.2 intake manifolds suffer from a lot of reversion (happens from low rpm operation and intake + exhaust valve being open at same time (overlap) and the exhaust soot backs its way up the intake) as well as ingesting oil into the intake if the oil tank is too full and pukes via the vent hose. Neither are good for the IAC but oil ingestion is the worst of the two

I got one of the eBay off brand IAC valves. It's made by ISUMO and I haven't tried it yet. I see it's listed for $130 right now. I paid 1/4 of that or less when I bought it!

There's a lot of used ones on eBay too. Obviously you never know what you're getting with used.

The issue with this one is not its basic function. It appears to have an intermittent short as the ECU keeps failing in the IAC driver department. I plan to open her up just to see if the problem is apparent in windings, brushes or whatever is in there. Thanks for all the input. Bob

Did you replace the idle control transistors in the ECU? I've read they are susceptible to overload damage, and that the replacements can handle higher loads. Not sure that this is the thread I initially read, but this one definitely discusses the transistor replacement.

if you are truly experiencing a intermittent short, You may want to look at your harness too. it is possible for the short to occur before it ever gets to the AIC valve.
