Old School 2.0 - Distributor clearance issue
I'm working on a 1968 desmogged 2.0 in my 1968 911L.
Completely stock motor otherwise. In tuning my car and prepping for the year (car is new to me as of last fall) I am setting the timing and I see that the most I can move/turn my distributor to advance is about 5-7 degrees BEFORE top dead center at idle. The distributor body, just below the "OEL" port on the side of the BOSCH 001, is hitting the mounting nut - not allowing me to advance the timing at all. There is NO WAY for me to pick up chicks......OR burn rubber unless I can advance my timing a tad more. Thoughts? Thank you! ![]() |

Pull it out and move the rotor one notch.

Wow, duh moment here - a little embarrassed.
As easy as just moving the gear at the bottom one tooth. Thank you John - i'll go hide under a rock now!
