Just in the process of matting my transmission (915) and engine (3.0) together,
Exciting part!
Seems like the omega spring is in the way. I can't get the clutch fork to engage
With the release bearing. The Omega spring is touching my crossover oil pipe for
The SSI's exhaust. I remember when I pulled the trans out of the motor I had to
Take the old crossover exhaust off to clear the omega.
Q?
1. Do I have to take that omega spring off? Seems like it will be hard to put it back
Together once the trans is engages with the engine.
2. Or loosen the crossover oil pipe? Still doesn't look like there's much room to gain.
3. How did you guys do it? My first engine rebuild, appreciate any help.

Is the short arm attached to the clutch release shaft removed? If not the clutch fork can not swing far enough to engage the throw out bearing. Remove the circlip at the bottom end of the shaft and slide the short arm off.

If the omega has a pin holding the spring in place. Remove the pin. You need lubricant under the omega arm.
While you have the two apart, pull the long arm off and antiseize under it. It keeps the arm piviotable on the vertical shaft. If it seizes on the vertical shaft the clutch becomes very difficult
Put the clutch and long arm on the unit after it’s in the car. Use short lever to engage the TOB and pull engine and trans together.

Yes.. the short arm is off..looks like I can swing the omega all the way to the
Left side between the heat exchanger and xover pipe.

You need to indent the beautiful SSI's.

So.. I have to take that omega off then? To remove the pin.. from underneath? I gather
Take the cap off and the circlip then just pound it from the top? My big clutch arm moves freely
Horizontally not vertically.. the rubber seals keeps it from moving vert. 3 seals btw.

Almost there..! Didn't have to dent my SSI's ..
I unbolt the xover pipe 10mm bracket at the end to have a bit of room.

Is the spring going to have room to operate without the dent? I’ve been through this, bad memoirs of bloody knuckles. Good luck?

Thinking.

Some people have issues with clutch operation because the spring motion interferes with the SSI. You might not have to do anything but if you do then start by folding the seam and see if that is enough clearance before going further.

I realized what you guys are saying about denting the ssi..
Minor I guess.
