I've been slowly assessing things and getting some maintenance checked off after it's sat for so long. The next big tasks will be replacing all the brake lines and adding some fresh fluid, adjusting the valves, adding a Rothsport oil check valve, replacing bent throttle bell cranks and adjusting the linkages, then balancing and tuning the carbs. With any luck, it'll run half decently!

My dad gave me a Porsche 365 at the age of 19 and it was absolutely my best gift ever. I still have this car and drive sometimes. Once again thank you dad for this lovely gift!

^^^ My first Porsche- a 1974 911S Targa, back in 2012. Sold the Targa shortly after that pic was taken at Camarillo Airport. Recently bought an '85 Carrera project, as I have been missing the Targa ever since the day I sold it:

My first 911 is a 1986 Carrera. This is my new project. My uncle has owned this car since 1988 and on my visits to California I have driven it from San Diego to San Fran up the PCH. Also a very fast trip back on I5.

I have untold trips to LA and all around So Cal.

He recently decided not to drive anymore. He is 88 and has had a couple accidents. This cars left front fender was one vs a tree.

He gave me the car and said do as I like. I plan to address the few issues. But the car even eith 181k miles runs great and the engine has great compression and the trans has been replace in the last 50 k miles.

I also have a 02 Corvette roadster and a 1985 Fiero modified with prototype Pontiac parts. I bought it new and it has won top 5 at the largest Pontiac show in the world twice out of 650 plus cars twice.

I plan to keep them and I look forward to the learning curve on the 911.

I work in the racing parts industry and found a number of parts I can get via work so this will help.

This is a rust free car and it is very solid. Good bones to start with and not having anyting in it will let me do much and not fall in a hole.

Reliable should deliver it next week and the adventure begins.

Welcome to the looney farm. And get used to adding a "0" to the price of any parts that have the Porsche logo on them.

Still waiting on the car. As for prices some high some not bad. It helps I work in the racing industry and I can save some on things from work.

I ordered a new fender and have a body shop set up to do the work. Just need the money. I had not planned on a new project and the wife let me keep the other two cars.

I have had the Fiero for 40 years and was my first new car. The Corvette is about 3 years old with me.

I do like cars that are different and had my share of muscle cars too.

My First 911

I picked up this 86 911 Coupe last week.

I traded my 64 Corvette on it.

The C2 vette was just not my thing. (Corvette people...ugh don't get me started)

As for the 911, It was setup as a track car and I'm trying to get it back to stock.

Will need Door panels, Heater stuff, radio stuff, console.. etc.

I have the C5 but I tell people I’m a Pontiac guy with a Corvette. Now I can say I’m a Porsche guy with a Corvette.

I was going to join a Corvette. Club till I met them. No one knows how to turn a wrench.

1988 Lagoon Green Coupe

I bought my first and only 911 in Cupertino in 2008 and will never sell it. Here in Vancouver BC she spends most days under a cover in underground parking but I do take it out at least two or three times a month. Most things have been done just needs seats re-done and maybe top end but does not burn oil. 200,000 miles and still going strong.

1984 3.2 Targa

Bought new at Circle P&A in Long Beach CA May 1984. It now is about to turn over 133,000 miles. First 70K put on in 8 years. Having a kid(1987) and buying Harleys (1990) changed our direction a bit. Jst did new shocks, etc in 2020 plus a bunch of other oil leaks over the last 15 years. Shift bushings, tach and speedo disintegrated since. Drove it yesterday and still feels great!

That's super cool they're talking about the Porsche 901, the first 911! It's wild that they had to change the name just because another company already used numbers with a zero in the middle. So basically, the 911 we know and love almost had a different name!
