My new 77’ CBM 911S 69k miles
Just wanting to share my new purchase a 1977 911S with 69k original miles. Car has had one respray and I just did a paint correction using Griots products. Have a few ideas of what I want it to be but for the most part I’d like to keep it mostly original. So far I did a radio delete, new wood shift knob, 8mm spacers, removed the side skirts, removed spare wheel, tool kit. Momo prototipo, cork RS door cards, euro tails/euro bumperettes, elephant triangular strut bar, Rennline floorboards and blower motor cover, M&K 2 in one out muffler and SSI’s will be done in the next couple months. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1631056385.jpg

Very nice car and tasteful mods planned.

Looking good! Awesome 70's metallic brown!

That is a very hard color to photograph.

Looks Great, nice color combo. I need to install the rear quarter pop out windows in my SC, I wish the factory had kept those at least through ‘83!

People will look down on the middies, particularly the 77’s but they’re truly unique cars, a bit idiosyncratic but full of character. Great car!!

Very pretty middie. Love that side profile pic and your set of 15x7 cookies. And I have a Mazda roadster that could benefit from you paint correction skills! Please keep this thread updated. Congrats.

Great find! 77’s are a lot of fun to fix up.

i wonder why peeps are still saying that....."looking down on middies...."
these are great freaking cars that survived for over 40 years.......... being on the road after 40 plus years is pretty impressive regardless of maker or perceptions. having a following and being kept on the road after 40 years from leaving the factory is impressive. dont listen to that debbie downer BS dailydriven911 ! you got a great looking car! enjoy it and do whatever you want to it! |

I'm the proud owner of a 1977 911S with the original 2.7 so I'd hardly consider myself a Debbie Downer. The mid-years got a bad rap at one point and it's just grown ever since; I mean, even the PCA (https://www.pca.org/news/model-guide-air-cooled-911s-on-a-budget-1974-1977) has a somewhat dismal opinion of them. Not to mention the echo chamber here and on Rennlist about how the engines are going to fail and they're only good for hotrods or backdates. SC's pull head studs too, and it's no cheaper to rebuild an SC than a mid-year. Frankly that attitude allowed me to buy one as the SC's are all getting expensive and the longhoods are absurdly priced. The mid-year 911's drive like the early cars, are light and nimble, are fully galvanized, don't have much of the SC bloat, cost a fraction of the other 911's and have rev-happy, torquey motors that are perfect for street driving. For my money, a mid-year beats an SC any day. |
showdown.... i wasn't referring to you, you didn't say YOU looked down on the middies...
you said, "People will look down on the middies"... that's what i was commenting on. EVERYTHING you wrote supports what i asked... "i wonder why peeps are still saying that" i am in total and complete agreement with you. |
dailydriven911...... enjoy that car! great color.... paint correction is stunning.
this site is a great resource in any area you will need advice or direction on, the brain-trust here is AWESOME! |
welcome to the mid year club. SmileWavy
dont listen to anyone. they are fun, nimble and light. this is my 76. 2250ish wet, all steel with things removed. 3.2 w/ cams and stuff and its a go cart. enjoy and love the color. get that thing lowered and aligned! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1631124824.jpg |
Beautiful car, congratulations. Looks like maybe it needs to be lowered a bit?

I went through the process of lowering my 77 this past spring;
Front was stupid simple and achieving perfect desired results took so much less time than I budgeted for that I had to lie to my wife [emoji12] Rear nearly ruined me. Here’s my advice; buy adjustable spring plates with new bushings already mounted. I got mine from Rebel Racing and while it was more expensive than rolling my own, not having to worry about gluing the bushings was huge. Also the ability to adjust the height by about 2” with the turn of an Allen key makes fine tuning so much easier than constantly reindexing the torsion bars. What else, just be patient: it’s going to be more work and more swearing than you expect but it’s worth it. |
