Porsche Crest Porsche 993 Targa Restomod by Kreinzel

Hi everyone,

I saw this restomod project from a company called Kreinzel on Instagram and I loved it! I didnīt see many people talking about it, so I decided to talk about it here, because I think this deserves much more attention than it is getting.

I find it lovely: Finally a Porsche 993 with a REAL Targa roof! They tell more about it in their website.

What do you think about it?

I think folks should do whatever they want with their own cars.

But the longer I work on my car, the more I'm inclined to not mix parts from the different years.

Mixing all the parts from different years just seems to be a frankenstein thing to me.

I like this a lot.
I like early Targas.
I like 993s design improvements.
I never cared for the 993 Targa.

edit: probably getting into Singer price bracket, right?

I'll just add another comment on the overall marketplace. With the success of Singer, there are now at least a dozen imitators on both sides of the pond with varied ideas on the $500,000 911.
I have both good and bad thoughts on this, having loved these cars since an old one was $10,000 or so.

I think in profile view it’s proportions are off.

Don't think they made a 993 with that roofline/removable targa roof. Instead, 993 had a large glass roof that retracted down the rear of the car - see, https://www.total911.com/993-targa-air-apparent/.

Is this a 964/g body with a 993 bodykit?

If the car started out as a 993 they went through a lot of trouble to backdate the wiper system lol. However, it "appears" to be 964 or later based on the wheel offset appearance. They may have started with a "Cab" and gone from there. The wheels and tail..... ummm . Website is dreadfully lacking in details. Photos look like they took a while to "adjust"...... I would love to see pics of an actual car, not the rendering pics.

The whole thing is a digital rendering.

The only thing real are the backgrounds.

Why kill nice original 993 convertible?

Add some off the shelf retro parts to do some retro hack soft backdate to try to be different and unique.

The ship has sailed.

Probably someone with the coin and personal taste will buy one of those.

To each their own....Still an open forum... right?

This. The wheels are terrible...

Opinion: The term "resto-mod" isn't a Porsche or euro car term. This is an American Muscle Car term that surfaced about 20yrs ago.

When I hear "resto-mod" I think '69 Camaro with tubular suspension, a fancy interior, and an LS Based motor
