Weather stripping name

Hi, this fabric covered seal on my ‘84 Targa is badly faded. The seal is in good condition it’s just the black fabric that has sun damage. Any guidance on how to repair this and/or what it’s called so I can replace it, if needed (looked through the seals on Pelican and not obvious to me which this one is).

Thanks!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1644335861.jpg

On a Cab they call it the vertical window seal.

I paid the Porsche tax and bought new ones thinking for the price they'd come with the metal that mounts them... NOPE! Just the rubber. I ended up putting new covering on the new ones not long after. I used a black canvass like material that I bought from Hobby lobby and used 3M Foam Fast spray adhesive to stick the material to the rubber seal. I'm using the word "seal" very liberally here too.

Nope! That is for the cab. The Targa is one continuous seal the way it looks. Shaun is correct. It's the front targa bar seal. It appears to include the vertical window seal and it also seals the targa top. I thought my seal and the one on my brother's targa looked the same but they aren't. Funny how if you search Targa top front seal, you get no results from the host.

Found this by searching google images

Bowdrill cloth is the fabric on the rubber. Steele Rubber Products, among others.

A broad-tipped extra-large permanent Sharpie works great. I do this routinely every couple of years. Simple, quick, and nothing to mix, match, etc.

2" black hockey tape works like a charm being fabric

Thanks, all! This is really helpful.

I replaced just the fabric on mine, bought the fabric from Autos International. Bowdrill sounds familiar for the fabric name.

Was fairly easy to replace, iirc I just used contact cement.

Coincidentally, I'm about to re-dye these on my Targa. I'm going to use a black leather dye for it...

Fiebing's Pro Dye - Black. It's reputedly more color-fast and less apt to be bleached out by the sun.

We'll see how it goes...
