Refurbishing the HVAC Control face

I posted something a few months ago and now can't find a great response from someone who refinished the HVAC control with it in the car. Has anybody else done this? Did you use a toothpick with paint or one of those really fine or after fine point paint pens that are also readily available. Any hints or pearls of wisdom before I launch into this? (the car it Is a 69 9/11 E.) The face of the control unit is scratched an worn. It's really an eyesore. Thanks Steve

I am curious about the same. I have been temped to use oil based paint pens, and using wax or something similar around the edges of the colored recesses to prevent the paint adhering if the paint spills out of the recess.

The blue and red seem matchable, but the off white (?) arrows seem more difficult to find a pen for.

I believe acrylic pens will not adhere well to plastic.

Mine was full aluminium panel.

I used paint from Tamiya for the mat Black.
Blue came from sprays I buyed online (set with Red Blue Yellow) grafitti pack.

With these colors I made the Neon Greenisch for the left arrow.
mixing Blue+yellow and some white

I used some acrylic paint from a hobby and craft store.
Simple and makes a big difference.
Used a very small paint brush.

For the color inlays, cut adhesive vinyl can be a good alternative to paint. Many people have Cricut vinyl cutters and can make what you need if you give them the dimensions and colors you need.

Hard to see, but this set of controls was in pretty poor shape.
The acrylic paints with a small brush really brought the control face to more than presentable condition.
Also used some trim black spray paint on the main part of the face.
