Hey Fellas

It's been a long time since I posted, life and work has been crazy, not to mention this FluRona Crapola. I hope all of you and your family are Well.

So what's new?

Well, I decided to go Wide Body to finally match my Turbo Tail. I know I know, Back Assward.

I could no longer take the previous owner's horrible insurance body work with sanding marks everywhere and my own horrible insurance paint job with bubbling and cracking paint, paint so thin it was literally thinner then paper thin, if that is possible.more primer than paint so I started stripping the paint and then saw the Disaster, very thick, horrible bondo work and hack weld job. Really? WTF?

I was content to a proper body work and repaint.

Then a Brain Fart, well a lingering Brain Fart over many many years about the 930 WIDE BODY, recently seeing Tyson's WB project then I consulted/shared with Steve Wong SW Chips and Jeremy TRE. I immediately ordered the Steel Parts. JCVass here, gave me a great deal on Rockers, Thank You Brothers!

Welcome back. By M491 do you intend to truly do an M491? With turbo trailing arms and turbo "bookend" brakes or are we talking a NA wide-bodied build with upgrades? Because if you are recreating a true M491 I'm not sure if I've ever seen that before and it will be super interesting to follow. Good luck either way.

Yes, that is my goal to go as true M491 as possible, practical and of course availability of parts at a reasonable price.

Thanks for the heads up, will be removing all the glass shortly. I just tacked welded the fender then cut as I tacked to keep heat down.

It is amazing to see all the crappy auto body work from previous repairs but happy to see Porsche's Lead Fill.

I found a broken rear quarter panel support arm on the P-side

You really never see anyone just stop at M491. 99% of the time they go full Turbo as it will usually end up being a track car. Adding the correct bits for the turbo length trailing arms for an M491 (or Turbo) to a NA Carrera looks be tricky, but doable. Never done it. Researched it. Even considered using arms off of a SWB car in lieu of actual Turbo/M491 arms as I (oddly) had access to those at the time.

Note the missing Targa script and little black hump on the Targa bar. The black hump was an 80's style pigtail cell phone antenna! What kind of idiot drills through a Targa bar to install an antenna? I think it was an 80's "flex" , South Florida style . Look at me! I have a cell phone! LOL
