I might have missed a chapter there.
Is that forum dead now?

Clicking on the link provided by the OP displays the message:

I don't get that message when I hit the link from maninblacks last reply...., I just get the message that they are working on the site and hope to be back up soon.

I've posted literally twice in the last 3 years on the old EarlyS site due to the draconian rules there on listing items for sale (and here as well).

Erik, So I take it you don't know why they are offline (it's been a few months now)?

Well, an explanation email would be nice. I registered my car giving some sacred information and they shut it down quite some time ago! I’ll not go back ( famous last words). Something do not smell right. Not the first time I’ve been flipped - off.

I am having difficulty registering. When I click on the link I get a page that starts like this:
ParseError
syntax error, unexpected end of file, expecting function (T_FUNCTION) or const (T_CONST)

I imagine I am not the only one.

Wouldn’t it be better to revamp Early S? Seems there’s an appetite now

The earlyS registry is going to have a tough time after Chuck Miller passed. Let's face it, air-cooled Porsches are becoming dinosaurs like their owners (me included). My experience is that those under 40 might buy them for the status/coolness but they get rid of them once the parts and maintenance hits hard.
Always good to see a new option, kind of like a new tribe to consider joining.

Not sure what appetite there might be.... It was Chucks rules before and now it seems like it's Peters rules.

I don't see a reason to go back yet....

My impression was that Peter was recognizing the issues of the past and there was dialogue ongoing offline. I’ve seen your name mentioned as one of those people want to come back

My concern is that if we spread ourselves to thin, all suffer

I haven't been banned, and I could have posted over the last 4 years (but mostly haven't) and my email conversation with Peter was in regard to posting my own used and NOS parts.

I left due to Chucks rules that I couldn't post my new production parts... and Peters rules are such that I can't now can't even post my used or NOS parts. He stated to me that there needs to be a "board" to approve this. Peter "likes" the idea of a board, but hasn't decided whether there is going to be one. What do you think?

Peters post that he had contact with me was such that you were led to believe that I was requesting to come back.... I was never banned.

I'm quite literally the only person (that hasn't been banned) that can't post used or NOS parts on the EarlyS. So who loses under those circumstances?

I am with Eric above on this subject.
The early S registry has rules that are.... weird to say the least. There seems to be a secret handshake, that allows one to do anything without consequences.

Now if the new forum would wake up....

The few men who control ESR have made it a clique. Compare it with the 356 Registry to see what a single model car club can be.

confused

This is the first time it has been made clear to me why Eric stopped posting.
I sell used parts and sometimes NOS stuff. 20 years ago I reproduced the horn grill mounts for SWB cars. I sold about 25 sets .
All on the S registry. If you are making/ selling parts for our cars that are NLA, then this is the perfect place to offer them. I hope this situation gets resolved.
