911SC radio question

I just bought a very original, 50K documented mileage, 83 SC coupe. Paint and interior are original to the car. The radio is not. The CoA does not list a radio on the options list and there is no radio speaker balance knob on the center console. It does have original door speakers and original speakers on the rear shelf. Does the lack of a balance knob and no mention of radio on the CoA mean that it was a radio delete car?

I can’t speak for an ‘83, but my ‘79SC does not have a speaker balance knob.

My ‘83 911SC had the factory original Blaupunkt Tuscon installed. It has “Porsche” printed on it where the Blaupunkt label is usually located on the face of the radio.

There was a balance knob installed in the center lower console as well in between the AC and fan knobs. The entire audio system was original to the car. I replaced all of it, but saved everything and boxed it up in case I want to fully restore the car.

If you’d like a picture of the faceplate let me know and I’ll dig it out.

My '81 SC had the original radio when I bought the car 18 years ago. It did not have a balance knob. I installed an Alpine head unit, which I would like to replace.
I still have the original radio and will get it "rehabbed' one of these days.

I wonder why some cars with radios have the balance knob and others don't. It's shown in the owner's manual and sales brochure.

IIRC the balance knob in the centre console was introduced in mid 1983 model year regardless if it had A/C or not
